We pick 5 of our top cream porcelain tiles and also look at some top tips for designing with the latest cream porcelain tiles.

Why choose cream porcelain tiles?

There are two questions to answer here. The first is why choose cream tiles and second, why choose porcelain tiles. So let’s look at both because they are equally important.

Cream porcelain tiles

This is a colour that has been a staple of interiors designers for ever and a day. It’s classic and classy and ideal for creating a timeless foundation upon which to build dream rooms. Cream just works. Whether you are looking to do any of the following, cream is your go to. You may want to layer tones of this serene colour blending white, off-whites, creams and taupes. Perhaps you are thinking of opting for a contrasting cream and black monochrome colour scheme? Or you may be thinking of seeking out those sought-after natural tones of jutes, woods and rattans for pared back design. Or perhaps you want to pair your cream toned tiled canvas with colour – think blues, greens, pinks, mustards, burnt oranges and more. Whatever you are thinking, what cream porcelain tiles give you is a canvas that will work with pretty much any interior design – that’s because cream is a dream of a colour to work with.

Porcelain tiles

What is it about porcelain tiles that makes them such a great option for walls and floors? In a nutshell, porcelain is a material that is so versatile and so hardwearing. It is highly scratch resistant, highly stain resistant, remarkably frost resistant and available in a whole heap of finishes – think polished, matt, natural, soft, antislip and more. All of this make this material great for use across the home. Porcelain also works with underfloor heating and it can also be used outside in the garden to create patios, pathways and more. The list goes on. Porcelain tiles are one of the easiest materials to live with. They are so easy to keep clean and don’t require any sealing or ongoing maintenance, all of which makes them ideal for busy households.

One of the benefits of porcelain tiles is the exciting designs that are available. The whole point of porcelain is that it mimics other materials – stone, concrete, cement, metal, wood, micro-cement, marble and more. So you get all that incredible design and the look of the material you want, with all the benefits of this durable product. Unlike real wood porcelain won’t warp or bend with moisture. Unlike marble, porcelain is highly hardwearing and won’t show signs of wear in well-trodden areas. Unlike both wood and marble, porcelain is highly stain resistant. Unlike real stone, porcelain does not require any sealing or ongoing maintenance.

Top styling tips

Cream porcelain tiles are light and this pale tone helps reflect light which can in turn make spaces feel lighter, brighter and larger.  This makes this colour a brilliant option for smaller bathrooms and narrow hallways. Because cream is such a neutral tone, it also makes it a practical choice for large open plan spaces where you may have several rooms sharing the same flooring.  Add rugs or dividers to zone areas.

Large format cream porcelain tiles will make any space feel beautifully modern. Many of our collections feature 800 x 800mm, 1200 x 600mm and 1200 x 1200mm formats all of which bring a contemporary look. The larger the tile, the less grout lines and this helps create a seamless look across spaces.

Opting for a co-ordinating grout colour will help your cream porcelain tiled floor look and feel seamless. With rectified tiles grout lines are usually 3mm thick for floors and the larger the tile, the less grout lines there are as we have already explored. Larger tiles therefore make spaces feel less busy because there are fewer grout lines bringing a serene, calm look.

Layering textures will add depth to your design. Interior design is all about combining the rough with the smooth and tiles are absolutely a part of this. Your tiles will have a texture whether that is a soft sheen to echo the look and feel of aged stone or a contemporary matt finish. The more matt a tile, the less it will bounce light from the surface, instead it will gently diffuse light and this brings a softer feel to spaces. Utilising natural materials such as jutes, liens, woven baskets or tactile plant pots will enhance this softness.

For those wanting to take your cream porcelain tiles outside, there are lots of collections that feature co-ordinating tiles for inside and outside spaces. These tiles are designed to work together bringing a cohesiveness across thresholds and connecting lounge to lawn. Explore our Ethos Shore, Blend Matchstick, Nest Bone collections above to find out more. Or check out all of our inside outside tile collections here.

The latest cream porcelain tiles are versatile, elegant and rich in design. This colour is a staple of interior design for very good reason. Beautiful cream porcelain tiles will not only give you a stunning canvas for your dream space, they will add subtle character too.
