The Willows - a whole home project case study
Our clients home, The Willows, is a stunning home development nestled in the beautiful countryside. Seeking a tile to run from inside to outside as well as tiles for a whole host of other rooms too, the couple approached The TilePortfolio and and made a visit to our showroom in Kettering, Northants. As well as an inside outside porcelain tile, we also worked together to select a tile for the snug and dining area where a cosy feel was required. Add to that an office and gym along with a master bathroom and we were delighted to assist with this whole home project. The journey began with a simple sample request and we are so excited to share the finished project with you!
The Kitchen
We being with the heart of the home, the kitchen. The owners of The Willows, were looking for a contemporary tile collection that featured both an internal tile and an external co-ordinating tile so they could run the same flooring across both indoor and outdoor spaces. As the chosen kitchen units were in white, and worksurface in a beautiful white-grey the couple wanted a slightly darker tile but one that wasn’t too dark.
Our Alpine Scorch was chosen. A beautiful quartz effect tile in charcoal, greys, silvers and whites. The tiles work beautifully in the space. With a 9mm thick tile for the internal kitchen in a lovely Matt finish, the same tile was chosen for the outside space in 2cm thickness with a grip finish. Read on to find out more!

Lounge to Lawn
Alpine Scorch tiles continue into the lounge allowing the internal space to flow freely from kitchen to open plan living area. In addition, with the view from inside to outside we can see how the Alpine Scorch tiles flow from lounge to lawn with ease. In this case tiles are a 600 x 600mm format and are the prefect canvas for across the home linking and seamlessly connecting these beautiful spaces.

Inside Outside Tiles
Our Alpine Scorch tiles in 2cm thickness continue the flow from lounge to lawn providing the perfect platform for this stunning outdoor area including hot tub and relaxation space. With inside outside living on the rise running the same tile from in to out opens up space like never before. With advances in sliding door technology, thresholds are at a minimum and that means it is possible to achieve a beautifully flush run from indoor to outdoor allowing you to bring the outside in and take the inside out.

The Snug
For the snug, a very different feel was required and our Serenity Sienna wood effect plank tiles were chosen. In a lovely large format, these tiles are 1.2m x 19.5cm wide and with 39 different patterns mimic wood with incredible realism. Sienna is a lovely warm toned tile in a rich red/brown and as a colour works beautifully with the beams in this wonderful home.

The Dining Room
Serenity Sienna wood effect plank tiles continue into the dining area and this colour was chosen to also work with this beautiful furniture. Tiles are laid with a third overlap to ensure there is no lippage with the tiles and deliver a wonderful flush finish to the floor. Easy to clean, wood effect porcelain tiles are ideal for dining areas – scratch and stain resistant, they are easy to maintain and work brilliantly with underfloor heating too.

The Office
And onto the office, where Serenity Sienna is the perfect hardwearing floor for this busy space.

Master En-Suite
And finally upstairs to this stunning master en-suite featuring our beautiful Carerra Argent marble effect tiles in 1200 x 600mm format. We paired this wonderfully fresh large format marble effect tile with our Beat Grey porcelain tiles for the floor creating a stunning canvas that works to perfection with the white sanitaryware and chosen brassware. The design feels so fresh! We love it!

The Gym
There’s one last addition! The gym! In this case our client bagged a bargain in our clearance section and opted for our Swoop Grey 600 x 600mm tiles – a gorgeous blue-grey stone effect tile with a little extra grip to the surface but still easy clean. Our Antislip Soft tiles were just the ticket. The R11 A+B+C finish is ideal for delivering a non-slip surface without being too textured and that also means it is easy clean. Sadly, whilst Swoop Grey is no longer available we have lots of beautiful grey tiles so check out the link below the picture!
